SHARE

The International Technology Law Association (“ITechLaw”) organised its first local event in Malaysia on 5 December 2019 at Shearn Delamore & Co. The theme of the event was “Technology & Trust: Making Digital Transformation Work”. The seminar featured professionals speakers who shared their ideas and thoughts on the latest technological and legal trends on digital transformation of businesses, data protection measures and cybersecurity measures.

The event featured Mr. Thomas Dougherty, the US Department of Justice Regional Legal Advisor for Cybercrime in Asia, as the keynote speaker for the seminar. Mr Dougherty spoke about a range of topics relating to cyber threats, cybersecurity, and digital evidence, as well as the efforts and initiatives taken by the Department of Justice to address these issues. The seminar also covered Fintech-related topics and examined issues surrounding data protection.

The speakers consisted of legal practitioners, industry players, and solutions provider alike, thus the discussions covered both the academic as well as practical aspects of the issues. Approximately 50 people from various backgrounds were in attendance, from financial institutions, telecommunications to MNC(s). During the interactive seminar, attendees shared their thoughts and opinions and were able to gain much insights from the speakers.

The seminar was a success and showcased a glimpse of what ITechLaw had to offer. ITechLaw invites you to the ITechLaw 2020 International Asia-Pacific Conference which will be held on 22– 24 April 2020 at the Fullerton Hotel in Singapore.
