On 25 July 2019, Shearn Delamore & Co. was honoured to sponsor International Advertising Association’s (IAA) 2019 Debate Series titled “Brick and Mortar : A Sunset Business Model”.
The Head of our Intellectual Property Department, Karen Abraham was invited to say a few words and she highlighted trends of the new disruptive world of technology and E-commerce. Thereafter the evening started with the debate comprising an esteemed panel of debaters from the advertising industry together with our Partners from Shearn Delamore & Co.’s Intellectual Property Department, Michelle Loi and Ameet Kaur Purba, representing each side.
Diverse and heated points of arguments were put forward by both debate teams involving changes in consumer spending patterns, recent business trends and the developments of e-commerce legal protections.
The panel who advocated against the title “Brick and Mortar : A Sunset Business Model” were successful in convincing the audience that brick and mortar is here to stay!
